Window width is retained along with position. Fixed a bug that would have prevented the calendar from being seen if it was closed when minimized the previous time. The code that's saved forms a complete HTML page. Two registry bugs found and fixed: -The day could not be remembered as abbreviated or full. -The alignment of the heading (month and/or year) could not be remembered. Discovered the inablilty to remember the registration code on some computers. I'm still trying to figure this one out. A fix is sent to anyone who has the problem, but a permanent fix is still under development. A minor revision will hopefully be out soon. ****STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED FOUR STARS! I'LL KEEP TRYING!!**** 1.2.1 --- Released May 18, 1999. The registration bug has been fixed! Discovered and fixed several bugs that prevented font and other settings from being saved. 1.2.2 --- Released Jun. 24, 1999. The splash screen logo was reduced to about a tenth of its original size by converting it from a bitmap to a GIF. Unnecessary and invisible controls were deleted to save space. The name of the program is now called "HTML Calendar Maker Pro" throughout. In some cases it was called just "HTML Calendar". Line feeds are now also converted to HTML as "<br>". The Options window would sometimes disappear when the main window was minimized or if it lost focus. Both the Options and the splash screen now include code to stay on top when they are visible. If special styles (bold, italic, underline) were selected for the title, the code didn't reflect the choices. Now it does. Some windows can "stay on top" so they can't be overlooked. 2.0.0 --- Released Jul. 4, 1999. First major revision. The price has been raised to $18.00 (it's definitely worth it). .Cal files can be saved and opened for later use. The user is asked to save the calendar if it's about to be replaced, cleared, or closed. Brief instructions on how to choose colors has been added. A reminder that the page can be saved and edited in a web page editor is now included in The Code window (it was a request). When the code window is closed: -It will ask to save the calendar as a web page if it wasn't saved. -The user is asked if he/she wants to move to the next month, clearing the calendar and progressing one month. The user will still be prompted to save the file if it hasn't been saved since the last modification. The "Thanks for registering!" message includes the new download site and mentions the program's version number for updates. The cursor jumps to day 1 when the month is changed. In the unregistered version, the program states how many of the original four calendars are remaining. Calendar separators have been added (for a future version). More windows can "stay on top" so they won't be hidden by the main window, which is usually disabled until those windows are closed. The splash screen and Options window both have this feature, as well as More Info. The Code window doesn't have this. Although a separate window, it doesn't need it. A help file including FAQs, Tutorials, Tips & Tricks and an order form has been added. A button to access it has also been placed on the calendar window and the minimum width of the window had to be increased to accomodate the Help button. Pressing the F1 key will also invoke the help file. ****THIS SHOULD DESERVE A FOUR-STAR RATING, SHOULDN'T IT?**** 2.0.1 --- Released Jul. 13, 1999. When typing in a new year, the cursor would jump to the first of the month immediately, regardless of whether the user had planned on typing more to the year. This is fixed. To avoid any further misunderstanding, the message placed on web pages created by the unregistered version now says: "To get the registration code that unlocks the program" instead of "To get the registered version". After a web page is saved, the name of the file is included in the caption of The Code window. It wouldn't always ask to save a calendar before quitting if it had just moved events to another month. 3.0.0 --- Released Aug. 12, 1999. There is now less flicker when the calendar window is resized. A menu has been added. Bullets and links can be inserted. There is now a "Preview" button in the code window that saves and opens the web page in the default Internet browser. This feature may not work on some computers. An about window now provides a clickable link to my site. The file locations should be remembered when the program opens. The options window and open window no longer stay above all other programs. It was annoying and I learned a new technique. The program's icon file no longer has a 16-color 16x16 icon. This shows a much better-looking window icon. The date alignment is independent of its event alignment. THIS VERSION IS RELEASED FOR THE INTENT OF CHECKING FOR BUGS. I have checked it thoroughly for bugs, but I can't test it on everyone's computer. Since a major file (Microsoft's Common Controls) has been replaced by four smaller ones, I'm not sure about their compatibility. An updated release (featuring a new help file including any new questions that may come up) will be released shortly. 3.0.1 --- Released Aug. 22, 1999. The code behind the "View as Web Page" menu had been missing. Images can now be inserted too. Aug. 26, 1999 - **** FOUR STARS! Thank you ZDNet! **** 3.0.2 --- Released Sept. 12, 1999. With the new installation program, does anyone read this anymore? For tradition, I'll keep updating it. :-) When version 3.0.0 came out, it forgot how to save the Day/Date font in each calendar. That's fixed now. A new problem has arisen: not everyone can preview the calendar and I'm not exactly sure why. I have a feeling their computers aren't set up correctly to open web page files when they're double-clicked. My program mimicks double-clicking a web page file and, as a result, the calendar isn't previewed. Since this is only happening to a couple of computers, it's hard to pinpoint the exact program and fix it. It may not be fixable. This program (3.0.2) has been chosen by Wugnet as a Windows 98 Shareware Pick of the Week! It will be mentioned on their site, www.wugnet.com, during the week of December 27th! 3.5.0 --- Released Dec. 19, 1999. Saturdays and/or Sundays can be omitted. This is for the users who requested a calendar for just a 5-day work week, without weekends. This took HOURS to program, but it works instantly! There is now only one placeholder at the beginning of months that don't start on a Sunday, instead of one per day. This should look a little better than before in Netscape browsers. For new users, the program can determine what language Windows is using and, if it knows the language, will change the months and days of the week to match. An "Auto-pick" button has also been added to determine the user's language and change to it. The width of the calendar can now be changed, due to requests. This feature can be found under the "HTML" tab in Options. The width is copied directly into the web page code. That way, a number (representing the width in pixels) or a percentage can be entered. Less annoying message box: If the generated calendar code wasn't saved, the calendar window won't ask to move to the next month. It's less likely to get in the user's way. For unregistered users, all of the settings are saved upon exiting the program. Registered users have had this luxury, but I think new, unregistered users would like this feature, just to get a better feel of the full (infinite number of calendars) version. 3.5.1 --- Released Dec. 23, 1999. A few people have found a "Type Mismatch" when first starting the program. This should now be fixed. If a user gets an error message, the line number of the code is now displayed, which can really help me track down the bug. 3.6.0 --- Released Jan. 1, 2000. Despite all of my testing, this bug was somehow able to hide itself completely until the real new year. I believe that this bug has been fixed. This new version should be installed over the previous. The program should now be able to recognize dates in another common format. Please let me know if you are using a non- English version of Windows and the calendar isn't displaying the correct dates. 3.6.3 --- Released Feb. 5, 2000. Newer, smarter, and faster installation program. Better date handling for international systems. The calendar window can be resized to smaller dimensions and now will not flicker when the minimum size is reached. Three-letter abbreviations for the days and months in all six languages have been entered. Since the previous version, a few registered users were blocked from using the calendar-unlimited version. This has now been fixed. New icons were made for the menu and windows. 3.6.4 --- Released Feb. 20, 2000. "Unregistered" footer reworded. Disappears once user registers, as it did before version 3.6.3. 3.6.5 --- Released Feb. 21, 2000. Files didn't open if any events contained a slash (/), including links. I believe this bug has existed since the link feature was added but I haven't heard a complaint until now. 3.6.7 --- Released Mar. 28, 2000. Color schemes have been added and the border color can be changed. Please note that Netscape Navigator does not show border colors. Currently there are 15 color schemes, but there may be more in the future. The HTML tab in the Options window contains an option to save the web page calendars to end in .htm or .html. A few minor HTML coding bugs were discovered and fixed. 3.7.0 --- Released May 14, 2000. * If you have the Color Scheme Add-On Pack, please be sure to run it again after installing this program. The new schemes will have been replaced with the old ones and will need to be fixed by running the Add-On Pack again. .Cal files saved on international systems can now be opened. The splash screen graphic was changed and the about window contains the latest award, 4 cows from TUCOWS. The Insert menu had a couple of minor bug fixes. 3.7.1 --- Released June 22, 2000. The navigational bar at the bottom of the screen has been turned into additional menu options at the top to allow for more window space to type in events. The program does a better job resizing its contents when the calendar window is resized. Updated ActiveX controls (from vbAccelerator.com) have replaced the old ones. There have been some reports of registration errors and I hope that this update will allow the program to be installed error-free. This should also get rid of the bug that would sometimes prevent the window's border and menus from loading correctly. The menus now also have a background picture and gradient highlighting (which can be turned off through the registry). 3.7.2 --- Released November 29, 2000. When the first day of the month falls on a Friday and Saturdays and Sundays are disabled, Friday is no longer accidentally set to fall under the Monday column. 3.8.0 --- Released August 28, 2001. Numerous bug fixes. Asks Windows for the names of the days and months in user's language, allowing for support for all Latin-based languages that your version of Windows can support. Tutorial has been added to take users through the entire process of creating and saving web page calendars. Allows color settings to be remembered for unregistered users also. Changed number of trial calendars from four to ten. Weeks can start on Sundays or Mondays. Can now insert code for pop-up links. Online update-checking. Replaces any international characters with HTML code so web page calendars will appear correct on any compliant browser. 3.8.1 --- Released December 18, 2001. Fixed a case when files are saved incorrectly due to Monday starting off the week. Restored the ability to encode linefeeds and extra spaces to HTML. 3.8.2 --- Released January 10, 2002. Incorporates Windows XP visual style. Fonts in the text boxes can be changed for editing preferences. Prompts to move to the next month can be turned off. 3.8.3 --- Released February 9, 2002. Fixes day misalignment when opening February calendars. The cursor appears at the first element when changing months. 3.8.4 --- Released January 3, 2003. Fixes another day misalignment. Changed algorithm for consistent spacing between date boxes. The cursor retains its location while the window is resized. Previewing no longer requires the user to save a web page. However, previewed images will most likely not appear as only the web page is saved in a temporary folder and not the images. Updated the program's icons for Windows XP. Using an updated version of installer package. Setup program can display instructions in English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian. Program runs in English only. Various improvements with the registration process. Fixes distortion of certain controls in the Options window. 3.8.5 --- Released January 25, 2003. Headers, footers, and titles are now saved in .cal files. This facilitates the use of multiple headers, footers, and titles. Headers and footers can still be retained for future calendars by clicking on the "Set As Default" buttons. 3.8.6 --- Released June 25, 2003. An additional menu called "Dimensions" has been added under the "Options" menu. This allows the height of empty event boxes to change by allowing the user to modify the number of lines that are added. The height is only applied in web pages. A bug preventing the storing of the default location for saving event (.cal) files has now been fixed. Added better handling of the Color Scheme Add-On Packs. An "Online Documentation" feature has been added to the Help menu that automatically takes the user to the most current documentation for the program online. --- Released February 1, 2004. Resolved two issues: August 2004 calendars did not open under certain conditions. "Set as Default" feature for headers and footers didn't always store the header and footer as expected. 3.8.7 --- Released June 11, 2004. Fixes a lingering problem with the "Set as Default" feature. Any day of the week can now be hidden or shown, now along with Saturdays and Sundays. "Prompt to Move to the Next Month" menu item removed. 3.8.8 --- Released January 18, 2009. Replaced HTML text and color formatting with CSS. Default color scheme updated. Removed debug messages displayed during save of .cal files. Performance optimizations throughout the application.
